Summit
Tuskegee
University Kellogg Conference Center
Tuskegee, Alabama
October 6-8,
2004
"Entrepreneurship and Business Development:
Making a Difference in
Minority Communities"
This conference continues to revisit the historical
and philosophical perspectives of Booker T. Washington
and thus focuses on
entrepreneurship and business development as means
for African Americans and
other minorities to enjoy economic and political
parity. It targets
individuals, organizations, and institutions for
empowerment through
knowledge acquisition and networking for entrepreneurship
as key ingredients
to whole-community approach to economic development.
Conference
participants from community-based organizations,
universities, government,
and the private sector will convene in order to
partner and to examine
strategies for wealth creation, endowment management,
and small business
growth and development for individual entrepreneurs,
historically black
colleges and universities (HBCUs), non-profits,
and agencies that work with
African American and other minority groups.
This year, the Summit will
focus on programs, initiatives, and legislation
that promote expansion of
more gross receipts and profits for firms and small
businesses. It will
also emphasize acquisition and better management
of endowment assets for
HBCUs and community-based organizations. It is all about wealth creation
and economic independence in our communities through
entrepreneurship and
business development.
